Foreword
An American study shows that 60 to 75 percent of Americans don't drink enough water daily, and that up to 30 percent of older adults may be chronically dehydrated. This is roughly the same for us here in Europe.
Most people don't realize they're in some state of dehydration. People don't make the connection either. Dehydration also causes certain symptoms in your body.
Many naturopaths often say that people are not ill, but that they are thirsty and the body is crying out for fluids.
If your body becomes dehydrated, your body will also become more acidic.
And acidification causes inflammatory reactions and symptoms.
What can dehydrate your body or what dehydrates your body and cells?
1- Not drinking enough water
Generally not drinking enough water in a day.
2- Drinking drinks with a dehydrating effect
Drinking dehydrating drinks every day, such as coffee, energy drinks, sugary drinks, sports drinks with junk in them, alcohol, soft drinks with all kinds of junk in them, etc. If you don't drink water either, you will create even more dehydration .
3-Not drinking enough water when your body loses extra fluid
such as:
-Warm hot days
-When you go to exercise
-When you sweat a lot
NOTE: On hot days, when you sweat a lot, and exercise, your body needs extra fluids. You need to replenish what you lose.
4- Not drinking enough water when your body needs extra fluids
such as:
-When you detox
-When you are sick
NOTE : When your body is trying to repair itself it will require extra fluids.
5- Not getting enough electrolytes and salt in your diet
If your body is deficient in electrolytes (a group of minerals) and salt, fluids can't be transported to your cells. When you drink water, it goes straight to your bladder. This also causes you to urinate more. Urinating frequently also flushes out any remaining minerals, further exacerbating your mineral and fluid deficiency.
Urinating too much also dehydrates your body.
Electrolytes and salt are very important for the fluid balance in your body and cells
Note: someone who sweats a lot will easily lose salt and minerals. Therefore, these people should definitely ensure they consume extra minerals and salt.
6-Alcohol
Drinking too much alcohol weekly will definitely dehydrate your body. Drink occasionally and in moderation.
7-Flu
When you have the flu, your body is detoxing. It requires extra fluids. Remember, water is medicine? Your body wants to eliminate waste products regularly. While your body is eliminating waste, you may feel ill. During a detox, your body requires much more water. It's common for people to not drink enough during the flu. This makes it harder to recover and can lead to dehydration.
The flu isn't a disease. You can't get it from others and it's absolutely not contagious. It's simply detoxing .
8-Detox Cure
If you decide to do a liver cleanse or herbal body cleanse, your body will require extra fluids. Therefore, drink extra fluids during your detox. Only drink healthy beverages such as pure water, smoothies, herbal teas, or fresh loose-leaf tea.
9- When you cook your vegetables, you boil out the moisture.
Cooking your vegetables daily causes them to lose their moisture and nutrients. Every meal should contain moisture and nutrients, either through vegetables, fruit, or water.
Eat raw fruits and vegetables daily; they're a good source of fluids and nutrients for your body. You'll also be less likely to crave unhealthy snacks. If you saturate your body with vitamins, minerals, fiber, enzymes, pure proteins, healthy fats, and pure water, you'll feel much more satisfied. This way, you'll have fewer cravings for sweets and sugar.
10-All acidic foods have a drying effect
Acids draw fluid from your body and blood. Acidic blood, which is also concentrated, draws water from the cells lining your arteries. This can lead to blood vessel problems.
Anything sweet, sugary, and junk food is highly acidic.
Therefore, if you drink water with a high pH of 9 or 10, it will be very easy to drink. You'll also drink more. Alkaline water will hydrate your body and cells much better. Acidic water draws out moisture.
11-All chemical and synthetic substances have a drying effect
Bad lifestyle can dehydrate you and make you sick .
Anything chemical or synthetic is also highly acidic. And acids draw moisture from your body.
Avoid additives in your food, drinks, and supplements. Avoid junk food, sugar, white flour, pastries, candy, cookies, etc. These are fake foods. You can eat them occasionally, but not daily. Eat foods that are high in water, such as fruits and vegetables.
Medications from conventional doctors are made entirely of chemicals and synthetic substances. They further dehydrate the body. Someone who takes medication daily usually becomes dehydrated.
Your toothpaste is full of harmful chemicals like fluoride, phosphoric acid, chemical foaming agents, preservatives, and other unnecessary chemicals. Supermarket toothpastes are very harmful and dry out your mouth, which is why many people have dental problems. Anything acidic that dries out your mouth damages your teeth and gums. Anything that goes wrong in your mouth also affects your body.
12-Chronic stress
Chronic stress has a dehydrating effect because you produce a lot of acid, but on the other hand, people under stress and anxiety will eat less healthily and drink more coffee and sugary drinks. These are precisely the drinks that have a dehydrating effect. Stress also makes you drink less water. Chronic stress often changes your eating and drinking habits.
13-Vomiting and diarrhea
Vomiting and diarrhea also require extra fluids, salt, and minerals. You need to replenish what you lose.
14- Exercising in very tropical hot weather and drinking too little
When temperatures rise above 30 to 35 degrees Celsius and you exercise, you'll sweat profusely. If you also don't drink enough during exercise, your body can become dehydrated.

How long does it take to get your body rehydrated
To get rehydrated inside and outside the cells, it can take days for sufficient water to be absorbed, because the cells slowly become soaked.
After about eight days of good hydration, the hypothalamus resumes its function. You'll start to see benefits, such as faster elimination of toxins and increased energy. When your hypothalamus returns to normal, your body will function normally again, and your body will recognize thirst in a timely manner.
It depends on how dehydrated you are that you return to a normal level of fluid in your body and in your cells.
But assume it lasts at least 10 to 14 days. Then you should avoid the points above and keep them in mind. Maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Dehydration can be mild, moderate, or severe.
Mild is when the body has lost about 1 to 2 percent of its total fluid.
Moderate is that the body loses 5 percent of the total amount of fluid.
Severe dehydration occurs when the body has lost approximately 10 percent of its fluid. Severe dehydration is considered a life-threatening emergency.

Several doctors explain the symptoms and causes of dehydration.
These are video clips translated into Dutch as PDFs. The PDF shows what the doctors actually said about dehydration.
1-Dr. Gábor Lenkei (Hungary) - -> interview July 2012

Hungarian doctor Gabor says that people are often not sick, they are just thirsty. See PDF
2-Dr. Andreas Moritz (Germany) - -> interview 2009

Dr. Andreas says that most patients today suffer from " thirst sickness." People are often in an advanced state of dehydration and poisoning. Conventional doctors then call this a disease.
When dehydration occurs, metabolic waste products cannot be removed sufficiently. Nutrients cannot be absorbed properly. Water is a transport medium. Dehydration causes symptoms that resemble illness, but in reality, they only indicate a water imbalance. Very good explanation. See PDF.
3-Dr. Leonard Coldwell (Germany) --> interview 2012

Dr. Leonard says that chronic stress also dehydrates your body. Most people die from dehydration. Chronic stress puts your body into a fight-or-flight mode. It inhibits your metabolism, digestion, cells, and immune system. All your body's systems function more slowly.
Your nutrients can't be absorbed properly, and waste products can't be removed effectively. If your lifestyle isn't optimal, dehydration can quickly occur.
Dehydration is the main cause of organs not receiving enough oxygen and poor blood circulation. It's one of the leading causes of high blood pressure, headaches, migraines, back pain, and stomach problems. See PDF
Bizarre, striking signs of dehydration
You're not thirsty. You're rarely thirsty.
-No need to drink
-You have difficulty getting water down
-You don't like to drink
-Swollen eyes or feet
You're hungry, but your body actually needs water. See the video below by Dr. Leonard Coldwell.
People often crave sweets and sugar, but the body actually needs water and salt. See Dr. Robert Young's blog .
In a state of dehydration your signals to drink are disturbed!!!
It sounds strange that when you're dehydrated you don't feel thirsty. So definitely pay attention to these signs in yourself and those around you.
Symptoms of a lack of fluid in your body
Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj, MD (Iranian physician). These tips are from the Iranian physician. This list of symptoms is in his book "Water: The Cheapest Medicine." This physician has spent over 20 years researching water and salt.
Some symptoms or conditions you can develop due to dehydration. You can have mild, moderate, or severe dehydration. Therefore, the symptoms depend on the severity of the dehydration. Most people completely ignore the possibility that their symptom could be due to dehydration.
Mild dehydration:
Signs that you need to drink water:
1- Feeling thirsty sometimes --> this is mainly due to mild dehydration.
2-Redness in the face
3-Heartburn/stomach pain
4-Constipation
5-Digestive Problems
6- Having pains
7- Lower back pain
8-Headache
9-Bad breath
10-More hunger, more sugar cravings --> less thirst
11-Dizziness
12-Muscle cramps/mild muscle pain
13-Fatigue/being tired
14-Stressed/depressed/irritable/bad mood
15-General weakness
16-Dry mouth and lips
17-Dry eyes
18-Dry skin
19-Have a lot of saliva
20-Dark urine
Moderate to severe dehydration
Some symptoms:
1-High blood pressure
2-Heart and blood vessel problems (thrombosis, strokes, heart failure, rapid breathing, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, etc.)
3-Allergy and asthma problems
4-Cancer
5-Chronic fatigue
6-Morning Sickness During Pregnancy
7-Hormonal problems
8- Clotted blood/ thicker blood
9- Dry burning eyes
10-Gout
11-Neurological problems
12-Kidney stones
13- Retaining Fat/Obesity
14-Elevated cholesterol
15-Elevated triglycerides
16-Arthrosis
17- Muscle pain or other muscle problems
18-Hardening of connective tissue (scleroderma)
19. Dehydration causes acidic blood and body. Acidity is the cause of many diseases.
20. Dehydration also makes detoxification more difficult. As a result, you'll develop symptoms because your waste products can't be removed effectively.
21-Not being thirsty, not being able to drink water.
NOTE: Symptoms can also be caused by nutrient deficiencies, consuming too many toxins, and not drinking enough fluids.
But you can reduce many vague symptoms simply by drinking more water and using the right amount of salt. Diseases are caused by lifestyle issues. More and more naturopaths and researchers are realizing that we're dehydrated without even realizing it.
------------------------------------------
Hungarian doctor Gábor Lenkei says:

The problem is: if people with these symptoms were to go to a regular doctor, they'd be prescribed antihypertensives, antidepressants, painkillers, and other medications. Antihypertensives are often unnecessary, because hypertension is often due to dehydration, poisoning, and a nutrient deficiency (such as magnesium).
Important to know: chronic thirst reduces the sensation of thirst. As a result, after a while, people will not even want to drink the amount of fluid they need. This causes them to become even more dehydrated, entering a vicious cycle .
Dr. Robert Young (American Biologist)

Why do you get stomach and digestive problems when you include too many acidic foods and drinks in your diet?
The biggest problem is that when you eat and drink acidic foods and therefore live an acidic lifestyle, your stomach MUST produce sodium bicarbonate to chelate (detox) these acids to keep YOU alive.
In cases of chronic acidity, your body will take sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium from the softer parts of your bones, muscles, and organs to maintain the optimal pH of 7.365!
This is why chronic acidity is the cause of stomach pain, nausea, acid reflux, GERD, ulcers, joint pain, muscle pain, arthritis, infectious diseases, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. The number one cause of death worldwide is metabolic acidosis .
*** metabolic acidosis.
Metabolic acidosis is a low blood pH caused by too much acid in the body (or too little alkalinity)
TIP: If you have any of the conditions mentioned above, drink the acid-relieving drink in this blog post by Dr. Robert Young daily. Your stomach problems will quickly disappear. Your muscle problems will improve.
Electrolytes provide hydration
Electrolytes are substances needed at specific levels in the body to transmit electrical signals, maintain fluid balance, maintain pH, and maintain critical functions such as heartbeat rhythms and nerve signaling. How can you tell if you're electrolyte deficient?
If you have an electrolyte deficiency, fluid can't be transported to your cells. You drink water, and this water goes straight to your bladder. People with electrolyte deficiencies then need to urinate frequently. The few electrolytes you do have are then excreted in your urine. This will further increase your body's deficiency.
The main types of electrolytes found in the body are:
-Calcium
-Sodium
-Potassium (potassium)
-Chloride
-Magnesium
-Bicarbonate
Of these electrolytes, potassium, sodium, and chloride ions are considered the “most essential” electrolytes with respect to hydration.
The body parts most dependent on proper electrolyte balance and hydration are the brain , central nervous system , and muscular system . When you're dehydrated and electrolyte deficient, these body parts will immediately suffer.

To stay hydrated, Dr. Leonard is very particular about the water he drinks. He offers some helpful tips. See PDF.
2- Robert O. Young (America) --> interview 2013

Most chronic diseases involve a state of acidosis . Your body is then far too acidic. Dr. Robert Young (biologist) says you can at least start by changing your drinking habits. Drink pure alkaline water daily , and your health can quickly improve.
It's best to drink alkaline water, which is saturated with electrons, oxygen, and hydroxyl ions. This makes your body more alkaline. He also explains why we need to drink alkaline water to maintain good health. See PDF

Tips Natural Treatments for Dehydration
1- Make sure there is enough water.
Drink pure water. NOT tap water. Distilled water is best , or buy water from a health food store. Otherwise, you can buy spa water. A study of bottled water in Belgium and the Netherlands found that Spa Reine was the purest water.
You can add a pinch of bamboo salt to your water. Bamboo salt is purified salt and has a pH of 9.9. The molecules then become smaller, making your water much easier to drink.
2-Eat enough fruits and raw vegetables.
You can drink water, but you can also eat water. If you cook your vegetables every day, you lose almost all the vitamins and you also lose the fluid. So cooking vegetables every day isn't the best choice. Also, try to eat plenty of raw vegetables in a salad or smoothie. Don't be fooled into thinking that fruit has too much sugar.
Fruit isn't sugar that makes you fat, as they claim. If you do your research, most exotic fruits can actually lower your blood sugar. Fruit is packed with fiber, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and a source of pure water. Buy pesticide-free fruit.
3- Try healthy alternatives to plain water
If drinking plain water doesn't always appeal to you, there are other hydrating options.
Coconut water, for example, is one of nature's best hydrating drinks. It contains many things that contribute to hydration, such as potassium, amino acids, enzymes, growth factors, and minerals. In fact, the chemical composition of coconut water is similar to human blood, making it perfect for helping us recover from dehydration symptoms or workouts.
Vegetable smoothies --> use mainly green leafy vegetables, cucumber, lemon, ginger, and a little coconut oil. Green leafy vegetables contain chlorophyll.
-Fruit smoothies
-Herbal tea
-Coconut kefir
-Kombucha
-Bone broth --> buy organic
-Warm water with freshly squeezed lemon or lime and a little raw honey
-Hot water with fresh herbs (such as ginger, peppermint)
--> avoid sugary drinks, energy drinks, coffee with pesticides, alcohol, etc.
4-Drink enough before and during your training/sports activities
Some tips for athletes, before and during your training
-Drink from a PBA-free bottle
-Don't drink sugar before exercising.
You can add some bamboo salt and loose magnesium powder to your water. NOT tap water. Tap water is contaminated. You lose salt and magnesium during your workout. So this combination is ideal.
For example, you can add a pinch of Celtic salt or Dead Sea salt to your water. These two salts contain all the minerals. Sodium also provides a lot of energy during exercise. And it's a shame that few athletes know this.
Don't buy sports drinks with additives, sweeteners, or sugar. These will weaken your athletic performance.
5- Drink extra water during your illness
If you have the flu, a bladder infection, kidney stones, intestinal problems, stomach problems, cancer, etc., make sure you drink plenty of clean water. If you're dehydrated during your illness, you'll sabotage your recovery.
