What is activated carbon?
It can be made from various sources such as coconut shells, charred bones, bamboo, peat (dried peat), wood, etc. Most activated carbon comes from coconut shells.
Activated carbon is created through the controlled breakdown of carbon-based compounds, such as coconut shells or peat (plant material). To create activated carbon, these natural sources are "activated" with gases at high temperatures, increasing their surface area.
The porous surface of activated carbon has a negative electrical charge that causes positively charged toxins and gases to bind to it.
This results in a highly porous end product, which allows for the adsorption of drugs and toxins.
What process does activated carbon undergo?
Physical activation directly activates carbon-containing materials by exposing them to high temperatures and steam or carbon dioxide. This process creates a highly porous structure, increasing the surface area and adsorption capacity of the activated carbon.
If you buy activated charcoal and you see physical activation, then this is the product you need. There's also chemical activation. And you really shouldn't buy that.
NOTE!!! Activated carbon is NOT charcoal
Many confuse these two different raw materials because the names are similar.

What is Charcoal?
Charcoal is placed on the barbecue. Barbecue charcoal contains many toxins and chemicals, and therefore should NEVER be consumed. So NEVER ingest it orally. Use charcoal for your barbecue.
What is activated carbon
Activated charcoal is made from natural sources and is used medicinally for serious conditions such as poisoning and overdose. It's also a natural way to cleanse the body of chemicals that build up over time and damage your health.

What is activated carbon used for?
1. Poisoning and overdose. Used worldwide in emergency trauma centers.
2-Also used to do routine detox.
3-Homeopathy.
4-To reduce bloating and gas
5-Cleanse Digestion
6-To combat inflammation
7- Safely Treat Bile Flow Problems During Pregnancy (Intrahepatic Cholestasis)
8. Research also shows that activated charcoal works better than stomach pumping (called gastric lavage) in some situations.
9-Teeth Whitening
10-Mouth care
11-Skin care: activated charcoal is found in many care products.
12-To clean and remove mold
13-Water filters
14-Insect bites

Dosage: How Much Activated Charcoal Powder Is Safe
The safest dose is between 2.5g and 10g per day. Do this for 3 or 4 weeks and then take a break. No longer than 8 weeks in a row! Take breaks regularly. Be sure to do your research online.
TIP: The company must state that it is food grade .
Drink plenty of water during your body cleansing
When using activated charcoal, it's essential to drink at least 10 glasses of water a day. Do NOT use tap water. It's very important to consume plenty of water with activated charcoal to prevent dehydration. This also helps flush out toxins more quickly. Water also prevents the constipation some people experience.
Also ensure you get enough minerals . Eating 1 tablespoon of Seamos gel daily will provide you with sufficient minerals and vitamins. Seamos contains 92 of the 102 minerals. Moringa is also one of the only plants with high nutrient content.

Discussion of benefits Internal (oral)
1-Emergency to remove toxins
Removal of all kinds of toxins
One of the most common uses of activated charcoal is removing toxins and chemicals upon ingestion. Activated charcoal removes toxins, environmental toxins, intestinal gas, waste products, mold, mycotoxins, fertilizers, bleach, herbicides, pesticides, and organic compounds.
These toxins bind to the surface of activated charcoal, allowing for faster elimination while preventing their absorption into the body.
It is less used for heavy metals according to Dr. David Jockers.
Research shows that activated charcoal reduces the body's toxic load by more than 60% when used daily. See research
This is because activated carbon can also effectively bind and reduce the presence of chlorine, bacteria, viruses, yeast, toxic waste, and metabolic byproducts in the body. As it passes through the body, activated carbon and its impurities are excreted as feces.
Removal of pharmaceutical drugs and vaccines
Activated charcoal can also be used as an antidote in the case of accidental or intentional overdose of many pharmaceutical drugs and over-the-counter medications. It is effective for overdoses of aspirin, opium, cocaine, morphine, and acetaminophen.
Research published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology indicates that a growing body of observational data demonstrates that a single dose of activated charcoal can significantly reduce drug absorption in acutely poisoned patients. See article
Activated charcoal removes chemotherapy drugs: Activated charcoal is effective at removing most water-soluble toxins from the body, including some chemotherapy drugs.
Activated charcoal may be able to remove drugs from systemic circulation by redistributing toxins back through the gastrointestinal tract, where they bind in the intestines and are excreted from the body's tissues.
Food poisoning
In addition, activated charcoal can be used in cases of food poisoning when nausea and diarrhea are present.
TIP: It is important that the correct amount is administered as quickly as possible, in any case within one hour of ingestion.
In the event of an emergency involving the ingestion of a drug, toxin, or chemical, it is absolutely essential to call an ambulance immediately. If you have activated charcoal on hand, please inform the operator.
Depending on the amount of medication, the toxins or chemicals ingested, and the types of toxins, multiple doses may be necessary. In the hospital, doctors can administer more if needed.
2-Activated charcoal can detoxify fungi in your body
Mold often develops due to toxins in our food, drinks, or medications. But mold can also be present in your environment. You can use activated charcoal internally to cleanse your body, but you can also use activated charcoal externally to cleanse your environment.
Fungi in the body
Most people don't realize that mold can live inside their bodies. Toxic mold can cause depression, kidney and liver failure, impaired brain function, heart disease, eye irritation, headaches, vomiting, impaired immune system function, and severe respiratory distress.
Mold in your home and environment
Flooded homes, or even homes with small leaks under a subfloor or in the walls, can create an environment where mold can thrive. Poor ventilation contributes to the problem, and bathrooms, basements, and laundry rooms are particularly susceptible to mold growth.
Dr. Axe Josh (Naturopathic Doctor): How Do You Detox Fungus?
Using activated charcoal can help reduce mold overgrowth in your home. Studies have shown that activated charcoal has an effective binding capacity and can significantly reduce mold absorption. In a tested solution, activated charcoal has also been shown to be effective in removing 90 percent of mold. See article .
Be sure to watch for symptoms of mold exposure, such as wheezing, rash, watery eyes, coughing, or headaches, especially if they are not associated with other health conditions.
If you notice these signs, your home should be assessed for mold spores, even if no visible mold is detected. It can thrive behind drywall, under floors, and in ventilation ducts, and you might not even realize the levels are high until you've had the tests done.

3-Helps reduce gas and bloating
Activated charcoal supplements or powders can be used to relieve uncomfortable gas and bloating. It works by binding the gas-causing byproducts in foods that cause discomfort.
A study in the American Journal of Gastroenterology found that activated charcoal prevents intestinal gas after a typical gas-producing meal. See article
Further research published in UCLA Health shows that when activated charcoal is combined with simethicone, a medication used to break down gas bubbles, it is even more effective at reducing gas and bloating. See article
Some people find that activated charcoal is also effective for diarrhea, especially if the diarrhea is caused by an excess of toxins.
4-Helps treat alcohol poisoning (and prevent hangovers)
While activated charcoal doesn't absorb alcohol, it does help quickly remove other toxins from the body that contribute to poisoning. Consumption of alcohol in its pure form is rare. Mixers containing artificial sweeteners and chemicals are common. See article
Activated charcoal treats poisoning by removing these toxins.
In addition, some studies show that activated charcoal, when taken at the same time as alcohol, can significantly reduce blood alcohol concentrations. See article

5-Water filtration
It effectively captures impurities in water, including solvents, pesticides, industrial waste, and other chemicals. That's why activated carbon filter systems are used worldwide. See article
According to a study published in the Journal of the Canadian Dental Association, activated carbon filters (activated charcoal) can remove fluoride. It's wise to reduce the use of all products and medications containing fluoride. Avoiding fluoride and detoxifying it are important for oral and bodily health. See article by Mike Adams.
Drinking water is essential for good health, but typical tap water is toxic and laden with chemicals, toxins, and fluoride. It's a good idea to use a water filter with activated carbon.
6- Cleanse Digestion
Activated charcoal helps promote a healthy digestive tract by removing toxins that cause allergic reactions, oxidative damage, and poor immune system function. By removing toxins from your system, you can reduce joint pain, increase energy, and improve mental function.
Environmental factors, including pesticides on food, chemicals in the water we drink, and exposure to mold, create a toxic burden in our bodies. All other toxins in food, drinks, and products also harm our health.
It is therefore important to regularly cleanse the gastrointestinal tract to support overall health and well-being.
Furthermore, it may turn out that activated charcoal doesn't destroy both the good and bad bacteria in your intestines. Keep in mind that activated charcoal is an adsorbent rather than an absorbent.
At least one study published in the Journal of Veterinary Medical Science shows that activated charcoal may be able to differentiate somewhat between what it should and shouldn't adsorb.
The researchers who conducted this study found that "activated charcoal showed lower binding capacity with the normal bacterial flora tested than with E. coli O157:H7 strains." See article
Thus, it appears that toxin producing strains of E. coli are more likely to be adsorbed by the activated charcoal, while the normal bacterial flora in the gut, including Enterococcus faecium, Bifidobacterium thermophilum and Lactobacillus acidophilus, are more likely to be left untouched.

7-Diarrhea
Given its use as a gastrointestinal absorbent in overdose and poisoning, it follows that some people might suggest activated charcoal as a treatment for diarrhea.
In a 2017 study, researchers concluded that it may be possible that activated charcoal can reduce diarrhea if bacteria and medications cause diarrhea. See article
Activated charcoal has the ability to attract and remove ingested toxins from the gastrointestinal tract. It works by preventing the absorption of these harmful substances by adsorbing them to the surface of the particles, making it a suitable treatment for diarrhea.
The researchers also noted that activated charcoal had few side effects, especially when compared with common anti-diarrheal medications.
8-Kidney Health
Activated charcoal can support kidney function by filtering out undigested toxins and medications.
Activated charcoal appears to be particularly effective in removing toxins derived from urea, the major byproduct of protein digestion.
More research is needed, but some animal studies show that activated charcoal may help improve kidney function and reduce gastrointestinal damage and inflammation in people with chronic kidney disease.
In a 2013 study, rats with induced chronic kidney disease were given 4 grams (g) per kilogram per day of an oral activated charcoal preparation. The researchers found that the animals showed a significant reduction in intestinal inflammation and damage. See study
In another 2014 study, rats with induced chronic renal failure were given mixtures containing 20 percent activated charcoal. They experienced improved kidney function and reduced kidney inflammation and damage. See study
9-Activated charcoal reduces inflammation
As mentioned previously, activated charcoal exhibits a “back diffusion” process whereby it is not only able to interact with toxins that have yet to be absorbed by the body, but it can also draw toxins from the bloodstream back into the intestines.
Blood vessels that transport toxins to adjacent and distant parts of the body promote the spread of drugs to critical organs. This introduction of chemicals into tissues causes systemic inflammation and initiates your body's defenses. This can be a process of backdiffusion.
That's why activated charcoal is used to treat skin conditions like rashes. The purifying properties of activated charcoal aren't used to heal from within, but are often used externally to heal the skin.
They do this by applying activated charcoal topically to the affected area. People have praised the health benefits of activated charcoal for healing spider and mosquito bites.

Discussion of the benefits of external use
1-Used to whiten teeth and improve oral hygiene
Activated charcoal helps whiten teeth. Are your teeth discolored by coffee, tea, wine, or berries? Then you can use activated charcoal to whiten your teeth.
Activated charcoal also promotes good oral health. It does this by altering the pH balance in the mouth, thus preventing cavities, bad breath, and gum disease. See article
According to this 2021 study, brushing your teeth with activated charcoal could whiten your teeth. They clearly saw a difference. See the study.
According to research conducted by a professor of dentistry at King's College London, they concluded that charcoal toothpastes help remove external (extrinsic) stains on teeth without any negative abrasive effects.
She adds that toothpastes containing activated charcoal may be most effective when used to slow the recurrence of surface staining on intact teeth after professional cleaning and polishing. See article
When using charcoal toothpastes, be sure to check the ingredients for unwanted additives. It's also important to know that activated charcoal only works on surface stains to which it can bind, allowing it to lift the stains from your teeth.
Furthermore, researchers warn against using it in moderation, as it has an abrasive effect that can damage tooth enamel.
2-Skin and body health
Activated charcoal's uses extend beyond internal applications. For external treatments, it is effective in treating:
-Body odor
-Acne,
-Relieving discomfort caused by insect bites,
-Rash from poison ivy or poison oak and snake bites.
When applied topically as an activated charcoal mask, it can bind to toxins or impurities that contribute to skin problems or bite reactions. When you mix activated charcoal with other ingredients like aloe vera, the effect will be more potent.
Besides these skin benefits, activated charcoal has also been shown to help reduce odors. It can be used to reduce odor in combination with baking soda.

3-Anti-aging
Activated charcoal uses include helping to prevent cellular damage to the kidneys and liver, and supporting healthy adrenal glands. See research
It's absolutely essential to routinely remove toxins and chemicals from the body. Too many toxins actually age the skin.
When you detox, your cells receive more oxygen, and blemishes can disappear. Your pores become smaller. Your skin becomes more radiant, and you look fresher and younger.
Activated charcoal benefits the major organs by helping the body flush out the toxins and chemicals that cause internal damage. Studies show that activated charcoal can remove organic and inorganic compounds from the body, and that it binds strongly to metal compounds . See research.
