Foreword

Dr. Sebi (herbal healer) says there's only one disease , and that's "mucus ." If you remove the mucus, you can recover. Too much acidity causes mucus.

Dr. Sebi also repeatedly suggested eating and drinking more alkaline foods. If you have a symptom, you're eating too much, says Dr. Sebi.


He recommended several herbs and superfoods that act as expectorants. That's why I started looking for these herbs. Of course, there are even more herbs that act as expectorants. I looked up the most common ones.

Expectorant herbs

1-Sarsaparilla (dr. Sebi)

This is a very special plant. It can dissolve mucus and is used for coughs, runny noses, and sore throats. It's a good detoxifier, and on the other hand, it's a powerful aphrodisiac. This is a nice way to recover from your symptoms.

2-Thyme tea

--> It removes mucus from the throat and airways and improves breathing. Thyme is refreshing for the throat and airways. It is good for sore throats, coughs, strengthens the immune system, is antifungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, improves digestion, improves blood circulation, and is good for anemia and cancer.


3-Lungwort (Pulmonaria officinalis)

--> Lungwort soothes the airways and clears excess mucus. Lungwort contains many nutrients such as mucilage and minerals. It also has antioxidants.


Lungwort is used for a variety of respiratory ailments, including coughs, colds, bronchial detoxification, and catarrhal (coughing fits) problems. Lungwort reduces irritation.


4-Tea: Fresh lemon with honey

Lemon and honey are both expectorants. High in antioxidants, they're good for colds and boost your immune system. They're high in vitamin C and help with coughs and tickly coughs. Lemon is good for kidney stones and digestion. Honey is a natural cough syrup and soothes the throat.

NOTE: Only buy pure and organic honey. Supermarkets add sugar and all sorts of junk. The honey must be pure.

5-Eucalyptus tea

Eucalyptus is known for its fresh aromatic scent. Eucalyptus supports oxygen absorption by cells, which improves concentration. It has high antioxidant levels and boosts your immune system. It's good for fighting infections, supports the respiratory tract, helps loosen mucus and coughs, may help with asthma, and is ideal for dental hygiene.


6-Burdock Root - Burdock root (Dr. Sebi)

Burdock root contains natural diuretics and antioxidants that help detoxify the blood, reduce inflammation, and break down thick mucus , making it easier for the body to remove. See Dr. Sebi's blog.


7-Cascara Sagrada (Dr. Sebi)

Cascara sagrada works by stimulating the bowels and promoting regular bowel movements. Regular bowel movements help reduce overall mucus buildup by helping the body eliminate toxins and waste that contribute to excessive mucus production.


8-King's Candle - Mullein (Dr. Sebi)

Mullein works as an expectorant, meaning it helps loosen and thin mucus in the lungs, making it easier to cough out, while also soothing irritated airways.


9-Irish moss (dr. Sebi)

Irish moss (Sea moss or Chondrus Crispus) was one of Dr. Sebi's favorite herbs for cleansing, fasting, and daily nutrition.


Irish moss is expectorant , cleanses the body, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, improves your intestinal function and digestion thanks to the many fibers, boosts your immune system, has anti-cancer effects, is antifungal, antiviral, and is a natural antibiotic.

10-Elderberry (Dr. sebi)

Elderberry is rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that help reduce mucus production, while its antiviral properties support the immune system in breaking down and removing excess mucus from the airways.

11-Echinacea root tea

--> Echinacea purpurea was used by the Indians as a painkiller.

It is an expectorant. It is also good for the immune system, anti-inflammatory, good for infections, relieves upper respiratory problems, anti-cancer, and good for the skin.


12-Peppermint tea

Peppermint tea contains menthol, which acts as a natural analgesic to numb a sore throat. Menthol also provides relief from nasal congestion. Menthol thins mucus, making it a good expectorant. This means peppermint helps loosen mucus and coughs. It is soothing and calming for sore throats (pharyngitis) and dry coughs.


Peppermint can reduce swelling and irritation in the throat thanks to its anti-inflammatory effects. It also freshens breath, improves digestion, and has antibacterial properties.


13-Licorice tea

--> It is also used as an expectorant. This helps remove excess mucus from the upper and lower respiratory tract.


It also helps with heartburn and acid reflux, boosts your immune system, soothes coughs and sore throats, is anti-inflammatory, good for leaky gut, antimicrobial and antiviral.
